When other forms of contraceptive fails in preventing pregnancy, doctors may suggest Plan B pill as it is more effective.

How Taken

If you want to take Plan B, it is always better to follow your doctor's direction. It is better not to take the pill without consulting your doctor. Moreover, care should be taken not to take larger amounts of the drug and also not to take the pill for longer periods as it can bring in many complications.

The first Plan B dosage should be taken within seventy two hours of having sex. The next pill has to be taken 12 hours after the first dose. If you want to have better results, the time schedule between the two dosages has to be maintained. You should not delay in contacting your doctor if you come across vomiting after taking Plan b pill.

Missed Dose

If you want to have very good results from Plan b, never miss any dosage. More important is maintaining the time gap between the first dose and the second dose. In case you cannot maintain the timings, you should have to consult your doctor.

Never take more than the pill that has been prescribed. In case you feel of having taken an overdose, call your doctor immediately. If an overdose is taken, you may experience vomiting and nausea.

It is advised not to use Plan b as a routine method of birth control. If already pregnant, there is no use of taking the pill as it is not going to terminate pregnancy. If you are breast feeding, the Plan b pill should not be taken as it is traced in breast milk, which can cause harm to the new born babe. Before taking plan b during feeding, you should have to consult your doctor and seek his advice.

The plan b pills are also not prescribed for those who are below 17 years.

Side effects

Just like all drugs, Plan B also comes with many allergic reactions and side effects. Some persons can come across hives, breathing difficulty and swelling of the face, throat and mouth. If you come across any of these allergic reactions, never delay in consulting your doctor.

In case you feel pain on the sides of the lower belly, contact your doctor without further delay as it may be a sign of tubal pregnancy.

Dizziness, nausea, pain the stomach, breast pain, diarrhoea, feeling tired, headache, diarrhoea and changes in menstrual periods are some of the lesser known side effects that come along with Plan b.
